Presidio partnered with Equator Coffees to improve its Shopify subscription experience, with a focus on subscription reliability, product discovery, and storefront performance. The goal was to make it easier for customers to explore specialty coffees, enroll in recurring deliveries, and navigate seasonal releases while maintaining the brand’s mission-driven identity.
A Specialty Coffee Ecommerce Experience Built for Subscription & Discovery
Equator Coffees is a specialty coffee roaster known for sustainable sourcing, ethical partnerships, and high-quality roasting. As the brand expanded its direct-to-consumer presence, the Shopify storefront became an important hub for introducing new customers to its coffees while supporting recurring subscription orders.
Customers often explore roast profiles, brewing formats, and seasonal offerings before making a purchase. Because many prefer automated deliveries of their favorite roasts, the ecommerce experience needs to support both product education and a seamless Shopify subscription service while maintaining strong performance and mobile usability.
The Challenge: Improving Product Discovery & Repeat Purchase Behavior
As Equator’s online customer base grew, the storefront needed refinement to better support product discovery and recurring purchase behavior. Product detail pages already included valuable information about origin, roast characteristics, and tasting notes, but the conversion hierarchy needed clearer structure to help customers move more confidently toward purchase.
Subscription functionality also needed clearer positioning to reinforce the value of repeat deliveries. Customers browsing multiple coffee options needed easier navigation across roast types, brew formats, and curated collections. At the same time, increasing traffic made performance optimization more important to ensure stable browsing and checkout behavior across devices.
The challenge was balancing coffee education with a more streamlined ecommerce journey that encourages repeat orders.
Our Shopify Optimization Strategy for Subscription Growth, Discovery & Performance
Presidio implemented a focused Shopify optimization strategy addressing product page structure, subscription visibility, and storefront performance. Product templates were refined to better highlight roast profiles, tasting notes, and brewing guidance while strengthening the above-the-fold purchase flow. Subscription functionality was also clarified to communicate recurring delivery benefits more clearly and simplify enrollment for returning customers. Navigation and collection layouts were refined to improve product discovery across core coffees, limited releases, and brewing categories. Performance optimizations included image delivery improvements, script cleanup, and mobile UX refinements designed to maintain stable load times and consistent page behavior. Modular theme controls were also implemented to give internal teams the flexibility to feature seasonal coffees, highlight new releases, and manage promotional campaigns without development bottlenecks.
