Presidio partnered with KHY, the fashion label founded by Kylie Jenner, to engineer a Shopify Plus storefront optimized for high-velocity product drops and advanced variant architecture. As a capsule-driven brand with limited-edition collections and rapid sellouts, KHY required infrastructure that could support seamless variant switching, structured inventory logic, and scalable launch-day performance under extreme traffic conditions.

Drop-Driven Shopify Architecture Overview

KHY operates on a capsule-release model where each collection launches as a high-demand event. Traffic spikes immediately, inventory depletes rapidly, and mobile performance becomes mission-critical within seconds of launch. To support this model, the Shopify storefront must handle complex variant architecture across fabrics, colors and sizes, structured sellout logic, and controlled inventory visibility - all while preserving a premium, editorial user experience. Seamless variant switching, real-time inventory signalling, and scalable pre-launch capture systems are essential components of launch-day stability. In drop-driven fashion commerce, infrastructure does not support the launch - it determines its success.

The Challenge: Launch-Day Infrastructure Constraints

KHY’s Shopify product architecture relied heavily on sibling products across fabrics and colors. Switching between options frequently triggered full page reloads, creating unnecessary friction across the product detail page and slowing variant transitions during high-intent browsing. Under launch-day traffic conditions, even small performance delays risked measurable conversion loss. Operationally, drop execution required precise size-level inventory visibility, controlled out-of-stock swatch behavior, structured sellout handling, and reliable cross-sell logic across coordinated looks. Rapid inventory depletion needed to feel intentional and premium - not unstable or broken. In parallel, KHY lacked a structured pre-launch infrastructure. The brand required a system that allowed customers to preview upcoming collections, save specific variants by size and fabric, and receive automated release notifications the moment products went live.

Our Shopify Drop Optimization Strategy

Presidio implemented a multi-layered Shopify optimization roadmap centered on variant architecture, inventory logic, and launch orchestration. We restructured KHY’s product hierarchy into a unified PDP architecture that consolidated product name, fabric, color, and size within a single product framework. This eliminated unnecessary sibling reloads and enabled seamless variant switching, significantly improving PDP performance during high-traffic launch moments. We engineered structured inventory safeguards, including metafield-driven out-of-stock swatch control, automatic hide-swatch logic for fully depleted variants, and cross-sell protection fail-safes. These systems ensured rapid sell-through events maintained UX stability rather than exposing structural weaknesses. To support pre-launch demand capture, we developed a wishlist-driven “KHY Reserve” system. Customers could preview upcoming collections, save preferred variants by size and fabric, and automatically trigger personalized Klaviyo notifications at release. This transformed anticipation into structured, measurable drop-day revenue. Finally, we enhanced PLP filtering, navigation logic, image toggling, and PDP visual refinement across desktop and mobile to ensure performance integrity and brand alignment under scale.

Wishlist-driven pre-launch orchestration increasing drop-day readiness

Enhanced PLP navigation and product discovery clarity

Reduced operational risk during limited-edition capsule releases

These improvements strengthened KHY’s launch-day stability, protected conversion performance under scale, and transformed high-demand drops into controlled, high-efficiency revenue events.

Ongoing Drop Evolution & Launch Intelligence

Ongoing Drop Evolution & Launch Intelligence

For KHY, infrastructure is not static. Each capsule release generates behavioral data that informs the next launch. Ongoing collaboration focuses on refining variant architecture, optimizing launch-day load sequencing, and strengthening pre-launch capture systems to increase release-day conversion efficiency. Future initiatives include deeper integration between wishlist data and lifecycle segmentation, expanded drop analytics to monitor variant-level demand patterns, and continued performance tuning under simulated traffic surge conditions. The objective is precision. Every launch becomes more controlled, more measurable, and more conversion-efficient than the last.
